Experience

David brings 38+ years of experience in teaching music to students of every age and level, both privately and in large group settings. He is a studio quality pianist and vocalist, who also teaches piano, saxophone, and voice. He is well-versed in jazz, classical, gospel, R&B, and ‘pop’ styles, but has a deep passion for all genres of music and understands the strategies that are required, whether you are looking to perfect your skills or you are just getting started. His extensive background with music technology (he was in high school when MIDI was invented) gives him a unique and vast knowledge base to draw from during instruction. Realizing that every student has unique goals and abilities, his teaching methods are personalized in order to meet each individual student’s needs and musical aspirations​.

Education

In 2020 David completed his Master of Music in Music Education at the University of Florida. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music from William Carey University, Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and an Associate of Arts from Florida State College at Jacksonville. 

He currently teaches music technology & piano full-time in the Gwinnett County Public School system, for the past 5 years at Discovery High School (Lawrenceville) and now at Grayson High School where he has also been Woodwind Caption Head and Saxophone Instructor for their Marching Band since 2016. He holds a Professional Teaching Certificate from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission and received his Music I and II Certification at the Professional Level from the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators® (GACE®) with scores of 286 and 289 respectively. He could not imagine his life without music and looks forward to sharing his passions and expertise with you.
